The pages are grouped by topic, the way a child meets the world: animals, food, clothes, home, school, toys and so on. Each topic page holds a set of worksheets with a short description of every sheet, so you can see what is on a page before you print it. The level is a guide, not a rule: if a page looks too easy or too hard for your child, take a page from another topic or another level.
Picture and Word Worksheets
On each sheet the child looks at a picture and circles the matching word out of three. Twelve tasks per page, one solved example, a note for the grown-up to read the words aloud if needed.
How to choose a page
The adult who works with the child chooses the page, according to what the child already knows and can do. Start with a topic the child knows something about: the animals at home, the food on the table. A page with familiar pictures lets the child concentrate on the words. Move to new topics when the familiar ones go easily. Two children of the same age are often ready for different pages, and that is normal.
Printing
The worksheets look great on both a color printer and a black-and-white one, whichever you choose: every task is built on shapes and outlines, never on color. Print at 100% on US Letter paper.
