Animal words in kindergarten
Animals are among the first words a child learns, because the child already knows the creatures: a dog on the walk, a cow in a picture book, a bird at the window. The worksheet adds the written word to a picture the child recognizes. Each page is one group of animals, so the child works through one group at a time and the adult can see at a glance which groups are done.
How to use these worksheets
Every page has the same layout. At the top is a solved example: one picture, three words, the right word circled. Below are tasks of the same kind, and in each one only one word fits the picture. A child who does not read yet can still do the page: a grown-up reads the three words aloud, and the child picks the right one and circles it. The note at the bottom of each sheet is a reminder of this.
The adult who works with the child chooses the page: match it to what the child already knows and can do, not to the order on this page. Print on US Letter paper at 100%. The worksheets look great on both a color printer and a black-and-white one: every animal is clear and every task works either way, so print on whichever printer you have.
